If four pork chops won't fit in your pot at a time, work in batches. Once oil is hot, add pork chops to the pot, cooking for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden-brown.Add olive oil to the insert pot of the Instant Pot.Place pork chops on a plate and sprinkle seasoning generously over both sides of each chop, rubbing the seasonings into the pork.In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.Want an extra sticky glaze? Top with more BBQ sauce and slide the finished chop under the broiler for a few minutes before serving.Whisking the BBQ sauce with water helps to reduce its viscosity, so it will boil without scorching (which allows the Instant Pot to achieve high pressure).Sweet, spicy, Carolina-style, the sky is the limit! Experiment with different flavors of BBQ sauce. You should adjust the cooking time as needed for thinner or thicker pork chops. Select boneless pork chops that are about 1″ thick. In my experience, shorter cook times result in tougher chops, and nobody wants that.Ī few tips you’ll want to consider for this great recipe that makes an easy dinner: Here’s the thing–pork chops will technically be cooked through in less time than what you see in my recipe, but I’ve found the longer time at high pressure ensures that you’ll have tender pork chops. So I’ve done quite a bit of experimenting with cook times. I wanted them to be cooked through but I was a little afraid they would be tough after pressure cooking. I’ll admit, I was initially concerned about how long to cook pork chops in the Instant Pot. How Long To Cook Pork Chops In The Instant Pot These juicy pork chops practically fall apart!ĭelicious Sides To Serve With BBQ Pork Chops: The result is sticky, sweet, spicy and smoky Instant Pot BBQ pork chops. Next, I added some water and barbecue sauce and let everything cook together at high pressure. Then I borrowed a few ideas from that original recipe and began by searing seasoned pork chops to develop some flavor and jumpstart the cooking process. I even tweaked it to make Instant Pot pork chops and gravy, then created a version of Instant Pot pork chops and rice! Having a solid Instant Pot pork chop recipe makes such a difference. Recently, I developed a recipe for the juiciest, easy Instant Pot pork chops and all was redeemed. I’ve always enjoyed pork chops when eating out, but after years of cooking mediocre pork chops that were often dry and overcooked, I was a little hesitant to test out new recipes. I already love making Instant Pot BBQ country style ribs and figured BBQ pork chops might be equally as delicious in the pressure cooker. They are delicious and tender and got me thinking about how I could adapt the concept to make pressure cooker BBQ pork chops at home. If you love BBQ, you’ve probably enjoyed smoked pork chops smothered in flavorful barbecue sauce from a local BBQ restaurant. You can read my full disclosure policy here. Golden State has been unwilling to provide minimum-salary offers with a second optional year due to luxury tax implications and the risk of committing a 2024/25 roster spot to a signee who didn’t work out. The Suns’ willingness to give numerous free agents a two-year deal with a player option has helped them trump the Warriors in the free agent market, as Anthony Slater of The Athletic explains. Overall, the package is a sound choice as the first serious telescope for astrophotography. Be warned though: you won't see all 36,000 objects in the software database using the 130mm aperture. The Celestron AstroMaster 130EQ comes fairly well equipped, and features two good quality eyepieces (20mm and 10mm), a StarPointer red dot finderscope, and a free download of Starry Night Basic Software, allowing you to choose your targets and plan your observing session before heading outside. The optical performance is very good, with no major visual defects visible and we enjoyed the stunning contrast and clarity in the field of view. This process can be tricky for beginners, but with practice, it's easily achieved – especially given Celestron has supplied a manual that walks you through the process. However, in order to get the very best from the optical system – which is a Newtonian reflector – you'll need to collimate the setup. Meanwhile, its decent aperture will show a good amount of detail on the solar system and deep-sky targets. The equatorial mount assists with tracking, which is essential for longer exposure astrophotography. If you're after the best telescope for astrophotography and serious stargazing, we recommend the Celestron AstroMaster 130EQ, which offers a great package for the slightly more experienced amateur astronomer – especially given that it comes with a CG-3 equatorial mount, which requires more practice and patience to use over the basic alt-azimuth. This means that you can figure out exactly which product will work best for you and your needs. Luckily, there are so many great options for the best telescope for astrophotography that users are often spoilt for choice. Meanwhile, the kind of mount you use will determine whether long-exposure astrophotography is possible. The focal ratio is also an essential number to consider – fast telescopes with ratios of f/4 or f/5 are great for wide-field and deep-sky imaging, while slow instruments with ratios of f/11 to f/15 will offer dazzling high-power images of the Moon and planets. The aperture (or objective lens) of the telescope will be your guide on whether it's capable of capturing 'faint fuzzies' or just enough to make the planets and lunar surface pop. If your needs are slightly more advanced, you should consider whether you're a deep-sky or Solar System imager. These instruments often come with a tripod, mount, eyepieces, finderscope, and, often, a smartphone adapter. If you're a beginner, we recommend setting your sights on an inclusive package that lets you try a bit of everything, from general observing to afocal astrophotography. So which model should you buy? Well, that depends a lot on your level of experience. We are asked to believe that Madonna lives on a luxury houseboat, where she parades in front of the windows naked at all hours, yet somehow doesn't attract a crowd, not even of appreciative lobstermen. There's all kinds of murky plot debris involving nasal spray with cocaine in it, ghosts from the past, bizarre sex, and lots of nudity. What about the story here? It has to be seen to be believed - something I do not advise. She's just an extra trying to grab some extra business.īut enough on the technical side. We in the audience are alerted that the movie is establishing her for a later payoff. One example: Dafoe is addressing his opening remarks to the jury, and the camera pulls focus so that we see an attractive young female juror sitting in the front row. I don't know whether to blame the director, the cinematographer or the editor for some of the inept choices in this movie. That's a typical exchange in the courtroom scenes, which involve Dafoe being reprimanded by the judge for just about every breath he draws. a city small enough, Madonna volunteers from the witness stand, that she once dated a guy who dated a girl who dated Mantegna. Stay tuned for more developments, but fans should expect a crowd at Tavern this weekend, especially with 70-degree temperatures predicted for Chicago.Tavern on Rush is one of the most popular go-to destinations for the "IN" crowd. Gutilla, a fixture in the Gold Coast restaurant scene, died in 2018. Stefani and Tavern co-founder, the late Marty Gutilla, were involved in a lawsuit against each other in 2007. The restaurant would be better off with a remodeling, regardless of the acrimony between Stefani, Barbara (a former trucking magnate with a colorful history), and Banks (an attorney who’s represented the city of Chicago his uncle is a former alderman).īeyond attracting celebs like Michael Jordan and Jon Bon Jovi, Tavern is also a magnet for controversy. While those restaurants are more modern, Tavern appeared to be preserved in amber, a reflection of the steakhouses of the ‘90s. His children have taken larger roles in the company, producing hits like Mad Social in West Loop and Bar Cargo in River North. Stefani has been one of Chicago’s most successful restaurant owners in recent years. Barbara, in a statement to Crain’s, wrote that his team will take their time in remodeling the place in “reimagining this dining destination.” Barbara and Banks weren’t immediately reached. It’s unclear if the name is a placeholder or an indicator of ownership’s branding plans. The Tavern name remains on a giant vertical sign hanging above the sidewalk. Tavern’s red awnings are replaced with gold/yellow coverings. “We tried to extend that but could not.”Īs for the future, a rendering of the replacement restaurant shared with Eater Chicago in August shows a revamped facade along Rush Street and Bellevue Place with plenty of planters along a sidewalk patio. “We are disappointed that we have to speed up our closing date,” the letter reads. The letter cites “contractual matters beyond our control” and states Tavern had a verbal agreement with their landlords to stay open until December 31. When reached, the Stefani family didn’t comment beyond a letter from Phil Stefani posted Thursday, October 21 on Tavern’s website. The letter posted on Thursday, October 21. One restaurant source says he’s surprised that Barbara and Banks didn’t resort to a lawsuit to rid themselves of Stefani, producing courtroom drama in the same vein as recent cases involving fellow Gold Coast steakhouse Maple & Ash, and downtown’s Chicago Cut. Renderings of the new space were drawn up before Stefani announced Tavern’s pending closure back in late August. It represented one of the cornerstones of the infamous nightlife area known as the Viagra Triangle.īarbara and Banks are working on a new restaurant to replace Tavern. While lively in its heyday, it provided an upscale option to escape the hijinks of Rush and Division bars like The Original Mother’s and the Leg Room. The restaurant is a product of the ‘90s when the Chicago Bulls were kings of the NBA, a place where out-of-town celebs and politicians dined. Stefani told Eater Chicago earlier this year that Barbara and Banks were working behind the scenes to push his company out of the popular downtown steakhouse that overlooks Rush and Division streets, across from Mariano Park. While the Stefani family and the building’s landlords, Fred Barbara and James Banks, are wishing each other well publically, the earlier closing date is just another sign of a contentious relationship between the parties. Tavern on Rush fans won’t get to say farewell to the Gold Coast celebrity magnet on New Year’s Eve, as Phil Stefani and company will speed up the closing, ending their 24 year-run on Wednesday, October 26, two months earlier than announced. Some students also complain that this deck is not comprehensive, requiring them to create their own cards to address the gaps. The same types of deficiencies occur in this deck: lack of images and poorly written cards. Most of the cards are in a basic front/back format. The collection is divided into individual chapters within the Kaplan book. Strengths and Weaknesses: This deck is intended for someone who is heavily invested in using the Kaplan review books as the basis for their studying. This deck was formerly recommended for its biology and biochemistry content. The deck is organized into chapters that mirror the chapter-based organization of the Kaplan review books. Overview: RebopBebop scored 518 on the MCAT and shared their deck with the larger community. Newer decks have built on premed95’s original deck and provide a much more complete experience. There are no images in the deck, and the extra examples are often difficult to understand-factors that play a big role in memory encoding and maximizing recall. The cards are often simplistic and not well-written. However, the deck is somewhat dated and has many similar deficiencies to the ortho528 deck. Strengths and Weaknesses: Historically, many previous students primarily used this deck specifically for its P/S cards to study for Psychology/Sociology. It is divided into many sub-decks that each cover content categories. Similar to the Ortho528 deck, it was released several years ago. Overview: This is a deck created by reddit user /u/premed95. Recommendation: Would not recommend using in 2023.Įxample card from the Ortho528 Anki deck premed95 Anki Deck Finally, there is no organization in terms of tags, a number of errata that have not been addressed, and images are inconsistently used. In addition, it contains a substantial proportion of out-of-scope information particularly in the organic chemistry and biochemistry sections. Many of the cards do not follow best practices for writing cards or the more general principles of effective learning, and this limits the deck’s effectiveness. Strengths and Weaknesses: This is a historically significant deck and for that reason many still discuss it, but it has some clear weaknesses compared to more recently released decks. It contains 4357 cards that cover all the content sections, based on ExamKrackers, TPR, and Khan Academy. It was released on Reddit by a student who used it to score 132 on all the content-based science sections (not including CARS). Overview: This was one of the first prominent decks that was publicly shared. If you’re looking for the most up-to-date information with clear recommendations about the different MCAT Anki decks, you’re in the right place. We break down in detail what the main available pre-made Anki decks for the MCAT are and their strengths/weaknesses. We’re here to help cut through the noise. There is a lot of conflicting advice out there about the best way to use Anki and what the best MCAT Anki decks are, which can be confusing and overwhelming when forming your MCAT study strategy. However, we know that getting started with Anki can seem incredibly daunting. Anki lets you create your own cards or download pre-made decks from previous students who have shared their personal MCAT decks with the community. More and more pre-medical students are adopting Anki, a spaced repetition flashcard software, as part of their study regimen for the MCAT. We don’t listen to warnings or we ignore God’s wisdom, Proverbs 14:12. That’s how we live our lives if we don’t live them according to the word of God. Perhaps he decided to ignore the warnings of people who had experienced the past floods. He might have liked the way the building site looked. His teaching is the rock all else is shifting sand.Ī foolish builder would build his house without thinking about what kind of foundation there was. Only the life founded upon and guided by the principles of Christ shall stand. The rock is nothing more nor less than ‘these words of mine,’ namely, the words of Christ. The stability of the wise man’s house was due to the fact that it was built, not upon ‘a rock,’ but upon ‘THE rock’! Who or what is the rock mentioned in Matthew 7:25? Notice that Jesus mentions rains, floods, and winds, which suggest oppositions from above, beneath, and all around. The Jordan river was one which often was swollen especially in the wintertime, as the snow melted from the mountains. During heavy rainfall, these became swollen rivers that washed away everything in their paths. In the area of Palestine, there were low valleys and gullies that had been exposed to water from rain and storms. This kind of life will not stand up against the problems that come our way in life. We cannot just say we are Christians or be a part of the church or read the Bible and then not do what the word of God says. In Luke’s account of this parable Jesus begins by asking the question, ‘Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’ and do not do what I say?’ That’s the real point of this lesson After all of the teachings in the sermon, it was important that the people understood that simply listening to His words was not enough. He made sure His audience understood the meaning by explaining it. Jesus told the parable of the wise and foolish builders at the conclusion of the Sermon on the Mount. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed, and its destruction was complete.’ Luke 6:46-49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.’ Matthew 7:24-29 ‘Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. Introduction ‘Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. “I do remember when I opened my first coffee house, I can’t think of a Tim Hortons in the area,” he says. Tims is “coming late to the party,” says Vince Piccolo, described by Scout Magazine as the “King of Vancouver Coffee.” Piccolo, who owns 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters, also founded Caffè Artigiano in the late ’90s. Seattle-based Starbucks, on the other hand, entered Vancouver, its first international location, in 1987. Tim Hortons rolled up to the Pacific Rim relatively recently its first Vancouver restaurant opened in 1994 on East Hastings Street. Certainly, Tim Hortons has a lot to learn from its least saturated Canadian market-lessons that could help it abroad. So why is Tims still a Grande player in Vancouver’s Venti market? Answers range from historical (Tims entered the market late) to cultural (we’re coffee snobs). In a release, Tim Hortons CEO Marc Caira argued that the merger would bring the “iconic Canadian brand to a new global customer base.” That remains to be seen: presently, 80 per cent of its restaurants are Canadian-and there’s at least one domestic market it’s yet to fully crack. When Tim Hortons announced it was merging with Burger King last August, a deal that would create the world’s third-largest fast-food company and save Burger King tax money (by allowing it to move its headquarters to Canada), the benefits for Tims were less immediately clear. That’s an interesting fact for a company currently fixated on expansion. North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Richmond, Delta, Port Moody and especially Vancouver proper-all were Starbucks territory. The single exception was Metro Vancouver, where Starbucks beat out what’s arguably Canada’s most iconic brand in nearly every neighbourhood. Overall, Tims was the clear winner, claiming nearly three times as many locations throughout the country. Last year, editor William Wolfe-Wylie calculated the number of Tim Hortons for every city in Canada, comparing them with the number of Starbucks. Tim Hortons has been warming the hearts and hands of Canadians with its double-doubles and donuts for decades-or so the story goes in all but one market: Metro Vancouver. Can Tims’ new owners break the Starbucks stranglehold on Vancouver? Roll in cinnamon sugar and a little nutmeg and serve while still warm to preserve the light airiness of the batter.Tim Hortons is the dominant coffee chain all across Canada-everywhere except the Left Coast. Remove and place on a plate line with paper towel to drain any excess oil.ĥ. Turn after a few moments until all sides of the donut bites are golden on all sides.Ĥ. The batter will end up being a bit sticky.ģ. Heat oil in a pot to around 365F and drop the teaspoonfuls (no bigger) of the batter into the oil. Incorporate into dry ingredients and stir until smooth. I hope you enjoy this homemade version of one of Canada’s most famous foods.ġ. Sift together all the dry ingredients.Ģ. Mix together all the wet ingredients. They turned out to be a lot lighter and airier than the original Tim Horton’s version which a bit denser and dry. I rolled each of donut bites in cinnamon sugar and nutmeg to add some flavour to them. Therefore I decide to make my own version of one the most popular flavour old fashion plain. My favourite flavours are chocolate glazed and strawberry.Įver since I first tried them as a kid I have always had a craving for Timbits. This is why they where one of my favourite treats when I was younger. They have become very popular due to fact that people are able to try many different doughnut flavours without having to overstuff themselves. One of the things that Tim Hortons is most well known for is its Timbits. Tim Hortons serves a variety of decidable delights including soups, sandwiches, and a variety of pastries including muffins and donuts. For those who don’t know, Tim Hortons was founded in 1964 by Canadian hockey legend Tim Horton who has played for the for the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers just to name a couple teams. In my opinion which most Canadians would back up, I believe Tim Hortons is a lot better. It has been compared to Dunkin’ Donuts in the United States. And one of the things you will see a lot of here are Tim Hortons coffee shops. As many of you may know I am a proud Canadian citizen. |
